Integrating Anma Therapy with Shiatsu DoAnn T. Kaneko

Dr. Kaneko once again raises the questions: “Where did the word, Shiatsu come from or where was it born? What are the two most popular massage/bodywork therapies practiced legally in Japan today? What does Anma mean?” He has educated the general public as well as professional therapists, introducing the proverb, “Onkochishin”, meaning: “Creating the new through mastering the classic.” He learned traditional Anma massage from his parents and the Toyo Shinkyu College of Oriental Medicine. He utilizes it for most sports injuries, occupational conditions of the neuromuscular system, and conditions of the circulatory system and various internal organs caused by environmental and constitutional factors. He also relates shiatsu therapy to many stress-related disorders and postural imbalances of the skeletal system. These differentiations are clearly demonstrated in hisLong Form, Anma massage; and Short form, Shiatsu pressure therapy. In this workshop, you will learn Anma massage techniques for neck and shoulder complaints. Also, you will learn Shiatsu therapy techniques along the Sekisaisen (“line by the spine”), known as Hautuo Jiaji in TCM, for major organ ailments caused by an imbalanced autonomic nervous system and spinal misalignment. Textbook and videotapes are available for further study.
