James Gordon, MD, Founder and Director, Center for Mind-Body Medicine This session will address the use of mind-body approaches to help populations devastated by war and terrorism to deal successfully with chronic anxiety, depression and post-traumatic stress disorder. The model of psychological self-care, self-expression, mind-body medicine and group support developed by The Center for Mind-Body Medicine will be presented, and published and unpublished research indicating its effectiveness will be shared. The psychological consequences of war particularly its effect on women and children, will be explored. Possible psychobiological explanations for the success of this model of integrative care will be presented.
