The Bay Area Toxic Triangle Christopher Muhammed

With the unfolding of brown fields in Oakland, the ever-present Chevron refinery in Richmond and the controversy surrounding development plans for the former U.S. Navy shipyard in San Francisco’s Bay View/Hunter’s Point district, the issue of environmental racism has hit the Bay Area with profound impact. Muhammed will share the toxic triangle story, from environmental injustice to organizing for development that respects all our diverse communities. Having joined the Nation of Islam in the 1980s, Muhammad has been working as a community organizer in Bay View/Hunter’s Point for 19 years.
