What if liberals fought not only for better pay for teachers and better school buildings, but also for a new content to education-education geared not primarily to success in a competitive marketplace but primarily to developing values like generosity, caring, thanksgiving, awe and wonder at the universe, intellectual curiosity, social justice, non- violence and tolerance? |
