US assembly plants are closing throughout the country taking out economic
resources and family-waged jobs from our communities. The results when an
industry leaves is another large abandoned building on top of acres of toxic and
contaminated land becoming a hazard to the health of the environment and the
people who live near these sites. Emerging groups are shaping a different
future, bringing together labor, environmental, and social-justice perspectives to
utilize these existing plants with the hope to manufacture green products.
Learn how diverse groups are advocating for reusing existing plants to build the
green energy economy.
