Maestro Curtis MALS has a strong background in Jazz and Classical music and has three Bachelors Degrees: 1) Piano and Vocal Music, 2) Radio and TV Communications, and 3) Speech and Theatre; and, two Masters Degrees: 1) Music Theory/Orchestration and Arranging, and 2) Philosophy; and a Ph.D pending in Human and Organizational development (The Fielding Institute in Santa Barbara, California). Maestro has worked in the recording industry for over 30 years and has performed with such artist as Peabo Bryson, The Ojay‚s, George Benson, Phyllis Hyman and Lenny Williams and has played with The Count Basie Orchestra to name a few. He has produced Albums with Maurice White of Earth, Wind and Fire and is currently finishing his second album with his Jazz group Xpression under the Kalimba records label. He is also CEO of "Jazzy Boo" records where he is currently developing and producing artists in the area of, jazz, blues, Neo-Soul (R&B), new age, hip hop, rock, reggae, and gospel with emphasis on the San Francisco sound. Maestro has also developed and implemented a complete and comprehensive music therapy program funded by United Way for the elderly who suffer from Alzheimer’s and dementia. A college professor for over twenty years he now runs a private practice helping to inspire and cultivate young music thinkers.
